The Glycemic Load Formula

Glycemic index (GI) ranks carbohydrate foods on a scale of 0–100 based on how quickly they raise blood sugar. However, GI alone doesn't tell you how much carbohydrate you actually eat. Glycemic load (GL) combines both quality and quantity:

GL = (Net carbohydrates in grams × GI) ÷ 100

Worked Example: A Cup of Sweet Corn

Why does popcorn have a low GL per cup even though it is high in carbs per 100 g?
